to the days when you lie in bed for a little too long
the days when you lie in bed
for a little too long
because you have nothing planned
-
you had a good sleep
but somehow still groggy
-
whether purposefully or not
you start scrolling
knowing that there is so much time
more time today to do something
you envision all that is possible today
all the fun alone time you can have
and deserve
while staying well under the covers
-
you get distracted
by a random video that
sends you down a rabbit hole
-
you tell yourself to stop when
the clock gets to the next hour
the next moment you check the time
it’s already passed the hour
so you wait
till half past
-
the morning slips by
you finally get up only
because you are hungry
-
you make yourself lunch
get hit with that afternoon slump
iced coffee you decide is what you need
it is liquid gold, most times
-
today, the boost isn’t as effective
as you hoped
wasn’t strong enough to get you
in focus mode
you are very very close
to writing off this day
to just pick a show to binge
and enjoy this bed rot day
-
you start to feel a little frustrated
but no amount of self induced anxiety
is getting you to out of bed
you only climb out to get
a glass of water
and a bathroom break
-
hours seems like minutes
fly by and now it’s dark
-
you feel a little bit sad
that you missed the sunset
but somehow the dark feels comforting
like this day is almost over
since there is only a few more hours
you muster up the courage
to stop scrolling.
chose to do something different
something your future self would thank you for
you respond to a friend
learn something new
going for a run or a walk
outside
-
a small step in the right direction
you did it
you turned this day around
you didn’t give up on today
-
now you can retreat back to the bed
and continue scrolling
In case you missed it: In my last post, I shared why we feel this constant urge to reinvent ourselves.
A question for you!
When did you last bed rot?
Always open to learning more and hearing from you 😊
Thanks for reading!
Stay inspired,
